Limbuš Pekre

Pod Grajskim gričem holds barely a thousand people, most of them standing on embankments on three sides of the pitch, with just 63 seats set aside. It was formed on 16 June 1973 as NK Pekre, and the name grew to cover both Pekre and neighbouring Limbuš as the club came to represent the wider settlement near Maribor.

Zlatko Zahović passed through as a boy, training there between 1979 and 1981 before he went on to become one of the country's finest players. He came back decades later, in 2008–09, and scored 12 goals in 11 appearances for the first team he had once left as a youngster.

There is no cabinet of national honours here, no derby with a name attached to it. What the club has instead is a slow climb: the Sixth Division title in 2005–06, the Fifth Division in 2009–10, and, two decades after that first promotion, the Fourth Division in 2025–26.

The latest promotion carries Limbuš-Pekre into the 3. SNL East, and the task now is simply to hold a place there.
