About

The 3. SNL East serves as the eastern division of the Third Slovenian Football League, standing as the third tier within the national pyramid. Established in 1992 by the Football Association of Slovenia (NZS) following the country’s independence, the competition operates under the regional jurisdiction of the Maribor Football Association (MNZ Maribor). The structure accommodates between 14 and 18 clubs, with participants engaging in a double round-robin format throughout the season. Victory in the league secures direct promotion to the second tier, known as the 2. SNL, while the lowest-placed sides face relegation to the Inter-Municipal Leagues (MNL).

Recent history highlights a shifting landscape among the top performers. NK Dravinja holds the record for the most titles, having secured the championship in the 2022/23 campaign. The 2023/24 season saw NK Drava Ptuj claim the honour, followed by NK Krško Posavje in 2024/25. This pattern of succession underscores the competitive balance within the division, where titles rotate among established local clubs rather than remaining static.

Geographical factors define the league’s identity distinct from its western counterpart. While both divisions share the same tier status, they are separated by location and managed by different regional football associations. The East division specifically covers the area overseen by MNZ Maribor, bringing together teams from various municipalities across the region. Over the decades since its inception, the league has fluctuated between two and four divisions, adapting to the evolving needs of Slovenian football. The current setup remains stable, providing a clear pathway for ambitious clubs seeking advancement towards the professional levels of the sport.
