Lokomotiv G. Oryahovitsa

Railway workers at the Gorna Oryahovitsa station wanted a team of their own, and in 1932 they set one up: Zhelezicharski Sporten Klub, the railwaymen's sports club. The name changed after the war — a merger with Borislav in 1944, then Lokomotiv from 1945 — but the trade stuck to the club. Supporters still call them the Irons , and the red and black is worn in a town.

The single season that still gets talked about is 1962–63, when Lokomotiv won the Second League and went up. Top-flight football came and went after that; the best the club managed was eighth, a placing it reached three times around the turn of the 1990s. In 1992 came the one European outing of note.

Twice in the cup the club got within one match of the final, in 1947 and again in 1987, and lost both semi-finals.

Home is the Stadion Lokomotiv on Vasil Aprilov Street, with room for 10,500.

Two fixtures carry weight. The Railway Derby against Lokomotiv Plovdiv sets one railwaymen's club against the other. The Derby of the North, against Etar from Veliko Tarnovo down the road, is the local one.

The recent record is a climb: the Amateur League Cup in 2023, then the Third League title in 2023–24, the others coming in 1984–85 and 2004–05.
