Estadio 1º de Abril has been Luján's home only since September 2022, when the club finally left the old Campo Municipal de Deportes behind.

It did not start life as Club Luján. The founders registered it as Club River Plate, and it played under that name for more than a decade before a 1947 rule requiring clubs to carry names in the national language forced the change. Since September of that year it has been Club Luján, in the white shirt crossed by a red diagonal band that still marks the team out in the lower divisions of Argentine football.

Those divisions are where the club has spent most of its history. Two Primera D titles, in 1963 and 1973, came before a 1991 promotion play-off in which Luján beat Berazategui for a place in Primera B. The club later slipped back down the ladder, and its most recent honour, the Primera C title, came in the 2011–12 season.

No player has left a bigger mark on the scoresheet than Javier Braiotta, who scored 124 goals in 311 appearances for the club, still the highest tally in its history.
