Magnitka Magnitogorsk

Arena Metallurg holds 7,500, and it sits in a city built entirely around one plant — the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works founded the club in 1955 as a Class B works team.

The club carries the works into its results as much as its name. It won the Russian Super League three times before the KHL existed, in 1998–99, 2000–01 and 2006–07, and added the Gagarin Cup itself three times since — 2014 against Lev Prague, 2016 against CSKA Moscow, and 2024 in a 4–0 sweep of Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. Two further finals, in 2017 and 2022, were lost to Ak Bars and CSKA respectively.

Sergei Mozyakin's number 10 hangs retired at the arena; Vasily Koshechkin built a career there in goal that stands as the club record for games and wins by anyone who has played for Magnitka. Evgeni Malkin came through the same academy before Pittsburgh, and returned to the ice at Arena Metallurg during the 2012–13 lockout.
