Manresa Baxi

Manresa is a Catalan city of some 80,000 people west of Barcelona, now known as Manresa Baxi. The team traces back to 1931, though it took its current form only after a 1979 split from the multi-sport club CE Manresa and a further renaming in 1992.

What the city still talks about is the 1997–98 season. Manresa had finished sixth in the regular table, yet went on to beat Tau Cerámica Baskonia 3–1 in the finals and take the Liga ACB title — a result still counted among the biggest upsets in European basketball. Joan "Chichi" Creus was named MVP of both finals.

Relegation has been part of the club's story too: Manresa won the LEB Oro second-division title twice, in 2002 and 2007. In 2022 the club reached a European final for the first time, losing the Basketball Champions League decider to Lenovo Tenerife 98–87.

Games against Bàsquet Girona and Joventut Badalona carry the weight of a Catalan derby. At the Pavelló Nou Congost, which holds 5,000, the numbers 9, 10 and 15 hang retired for Joan Peñarroya, Pep Pujolrás and Jordi Singla.
