Maziya

The National Football Stadium stands in the middle of Malé, and it is where Maziya have always played, home fixtures often credited to its older name, Rasmee Dhandu Stadium. It holds 11,850, and on title nights the stands turn green and yellow — the colours that gave the club its nickname, the Green Boys.

Maziya S&RC was founded on 23 January 1996. Six Dhivehi Premier League titles have followed, the first in 2016 and the most recent in the 2025-26 season, along with three Maldives FA Cups, the latest of them in 2022, and a run of Charity Shields and President's Cups that has rarely let up since 2015.

No single figure sums up that run better than Asadhulla Abdulla, who captained the side for a decade before leaving in 2022. He scored 105 league goals along the way, a tally few defenders in the league have had to face down more often. Ali Fasir, rated among the finest players Maldivian football has produced, added the 2023 title and a President's Cup to his own record at the club.

The bench has changed hands more often than the trophy count might suggest, without the winning breaking stride. Cornelius Stewart won back-to-back titles, Sergio Mendigutxia added another three seasons later, and the current head coach, Luisma Hernández, delivered this season's championship — three different men, three separate title-winning campaigns, one after another.

Every one of those seasons still finishes on the same ground where Maziya first took to the field, in Malé, in 1996.
