Meyrin

Fixtures against FC Vernier carry the weight in Meyrin's corner of the Geneva suburbs — two neighbouring communes, no trophy named after the meeting, but the closest thing the club has to a grudge match. Everything else about Meyrin has been earned on the pitch in smaller increments, mostly in the space between the second and fourth divisions.

The club spent two brief spells in what is now the Challenge League. The first, in 1996, ended the same season it began — the promotion unravelled under financial strain rather than results. The second lasted longer: promoted in 2003, Meyrin held its place until relegation in 2006. Since then the club has settled into 1. Liga Classic, the fourth tier, as an amateur side with no announced ambition to force the issue again.

Home games are played at the Stade des Arbères, holding 2,018, the club's ground since 2008 after nearly five decades at the Stade de Vaudagne. The colours are black and yellow, adopted for the 2017/18 season.

Meyrin was founded on 1 July 1914 by four men — Modeste Vandonini, Albert Mossaz, Édouard Perrin and Henri Andeolli — in the commune that still gives the club its name, on the western edge of Geneva.
