Municipal Limeño

Santa Rosa de Lima sits in the La Unión department. The badge shows a pig, after the pig farm the founder ran before he ran a football team.

What defines Municipal Limeño is the lift and the drop. First promotion to the Primera División came in 1971; relegation followed in 1975. They came back in 1993, went down in 2005, returned in 2009 by buying Chalatenango's licence, were relegated again the following year, and climbed back in 2016 on the strength of consecutive Segunda División titles in the Apertura 2015 and Clausura 2016. Relegated in 2022, they were back in the top flight a year later, this time by acquiring the place of Atlético Marte. Five second-division championships, then, and no first-division one.

The Grand Final has been reached four times without being won. Águila beat them in 1999 and again in 2000. Alianza took the Clausura 2024 final 5-0 and the Clausura 2025 final on penalties — two seasons in which the side got to the last day and found the same opponent waiting.

The Derby Unionense against Pasaquina is the fixture with no love lost.
