Club Deportivo FAS enter this season in the Primera División de El Salvador with the Clausura 2026 trophy already in hand, won with a 3-0 defeat of Águila in the final. For a club nicknamed Los Tigres, the ground it plays on carries the same theme: the Estadio Óscar Alberto Quiteño, which seats 17,500, is known locally as la cueva del tigre — the tiger's den.

FAS formed in Santa Ana on 16 February 1947, and the city has never let go of the club since. Red and blue shirts, usually paired with white shorts, have stayed the constant through nearly eight decades of Salvadoran football.

Eleven of its league titles came from the old Torneo Largo era. The first of those arrived in 1951, the last in 1996. Eight more followed after the competition split into Apertura and Clausura seasons in 2002. FAS has never dropped into the second division, one of only three clubs in the country that can say that, and its fixtures against Águila and Alianza are still billed as Clásico, alongside a separate derby with Isidro Metapán.

The one trophy that reached beyond El Salvador came in 1979, when FAS won the CONCACAF Champions' Cup. Jorge "Mágico" González, the player Salvadorans still rank above any other to wear the shirt, was on the pitch for that title during the first of his two spells at the club. That spell began in 1977; the second ran from 1991 to 2000. Later in 1979, FAS reached the final of the Copa Interamericana and lost it to Paraguay's Olimpia. The club has not reached another continental final since.
