Nevėžis-OPTIBET Kedainiai

Jonava sits close enough to make the games personal, and Šiauliai and Panevėžys carry their own history against Kėdainiai, though the club has never settled on one fixture as its defining derby. What runs through those matches instead is a smaller club refusing to be dismissed by the bigger names of Lithuanian basketball.

Stasys Mickevičius put the club together in 1992, and it took a year to reach even the "C" league. A sponsorship deal that same year pushed the name to KK Notra; it took until 1999 for Nevėžis to come back. The pattern repeated in 2011, when the club played a season as BC Kėdainiai Triobet before reverting again, and sponsorship still decides the name today, with the team currently competing as Nevėžis-Paskolų klubas.

Promotion to the Lithuanian Basketball League followed the 2002 LKAL title, and the club has stayed a top-flight fixture since, its best season coming in 2005–06, when it reached the semifinals before losing to BC Lietuvos Rytas. Cup competitions have been kinder: the BBL Challenge Cup in 2008 and the BBL Cup in 2013 both went to Kėdainiai, and third-place finishes in the LKF Cup in 2007 and 2012 added to a run of near-misses that never quite turned into a league medal.

The 2017–18 season took the club into Europe for the first time, a FIBA Europe Cup qualification sealed against AEK Larnaca. Jonas Mačiulis passed through Kėdainiai on his way to a EuroLeague title with Real Madrid and Lithuanian national team honours, a name still mentioned when the club's production of players comes up.

The Kėdainių Arena holds 2,200 for basketball, modest even by Lithuanian standards, and a King Mindaugas Cup semifinal has so far been as close as Nevėžis has come to the one trophy that has kept its distance.
