Onsala BK

The club began in 1941, when boys from the Vickan area formed a side under the name Vickans IF, playing bandy alongside football before settling on the Onsala BK name. Ninety years on, growth has come in steps rather than a straight line: a Division 5 Halland Norra title in 2000, repeated in 2011, then Division 4 Halland in 2016, each promotion a rung climbed rather than a leap.

The leap came in 2023. Onsala BK won Division 2 Västra Götaland and went up to Ettan Södra, the second tier of Swedish football. It did not last; they were relegated back down after a single season, the gap between a part-time Halland side and full-time opposition proving too wide to close in one year.

Between those two spells, the cup gave Onsala BK its moments against bigger names. In 2011 they beat Dalstorps IF 1–0 in Svenska Cupen, and in the 2016–17 edition they saw off Västra Frölunda IF 4–2, results that briefly put a Halland amateur club's name next to clubs several divisions above it. Alfons Nygaard, who came through IFK Göteborg's youth system before joining in 2024, scored 32 goals in 51 matches before leaving the following year.

Kungsbacka IF remain the derby fixture that matters most locally. After the drop from Ettan Södra, the task facing Onsala BK is the same one that got them there in the first place: winning their way back up through Halland's divisions.
