Piauí U20

Four Campeonato Piauiense titles in a row, from 1966 to 1969, still mark the peak of Piauí Esporte Clube's history. The state crown returned only once across the following decades, in 1985, before Piauí climbed back to the summit in 2025 and held it again in 2026.

The nickname Enxuga Rato traces back to a 1960s training routine built around drying rats, and it stuck long after the method itself was dropped. The club had started out in 1948 as Buenos Aires, named for the Teresina neighbourhood where it was formed, before settling on blue, white and red.

Piauí shares Teresina with Fluminense Piauiense, and games between the two are known simply as the clássico da capital. Its main ground, the Estádio Governador Alberto Tavares Silva, was built to hold 44,200, though fire-safety rules now cap attendance at around 13,000.

Piauí U20 carries the same colours into the Copa do Brasil U20 and the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior, and has yet to bring back a title from either competition.
