The club traces its roots to the Stiep neighbourhood in 1961, though the entity that now runs it was only formally re-registered in March 2024. Its production line has sent players to Bahia and Vitória, the city's two established sides; Sidney went from the Estrela de Março ranks to Bahia's midfield and a Brazil under-17 call-up.

Home matches are played at the Estádio Deputado Galdino Leite, known locally as Vila Canária. For bigger occasions Estrela de Março has stepped up to the Estádio de Pituaçu. Ypiranga, along with Leônico and Vitória, supplies the recurring opposition in the youth categories, though none of these meetings carries a name of its own.
