Botafogo's under-20 side belongs to that rhythm as much as the first team does.
The senior club traces back to two separate bodies: a rowing club founded on 1 July 1894, and a football club that followed a decade later, in 1904. They merged in 1942 into Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas, and the black-and-white colours behind the nickname Alvinegro belong to both halves of that history.
Botafogo won the Campeonato Carioca Sub-20 twice, beating Flamengo on penalties in 2016 and Fluminense in 2014, then lost the next two finals it reached, in 2020 and 2023, to Vasco.
