Boavista U20

Most of what Boavista's under-20 side plays for happens away from Sacuarema, in youth-only competitions that leave few names behind — the Campeonato Carioca Sub-20 and the Copa Rio Sub-20, run alongside the senior fixtures but rarely covered with the same attention. The academy itself sits inside a club that only in November 2024 stopped operating as it had for decades: Boavista converted to a SAF, a corporate football company, and with the change came a new crest — vertical green-and-white stripes and the initials BSC, replacing the cedar tree that had referenced the Lebanese community once tied to the club's founding.

The senior side traces back to 14 October 1961, when it was registered as Esporte Clube Barreira; the Boavista name only arrived in 2004. The nickname stuck regardless of the rebrand: Verdão de Saquarema, the green giant of the town, worn in the alviverde stripes the youth squad still takes onto the pitch.

Home matches are played at Estádio Elcyr Resende de Mendonça, on Rua Capitão Nunes in the Bacaxá district, though for Sub-20 fixtures staged in Rio itself the club has also used the Estádio Luso-Brasileiro. Youth honours specifically for the under-20s are not part of the record; what the club has won belongs to the first team — a Copa Rio in 2017, a Taça Rio in 2014, and further back, six Campeonato Saquaremense titles across the 1960s and 1980s, when Boavista's football was still mostly a municipal affair before it climbed into the state's wider competitions.
