Dariusz Żuraw holds the club's scoring record in Poland's second tier, 33 goals, and by the time he took the bench in the 2022/23 season he was already the leading marksman in the history of the Polish national team. He is not the only figure Podbeskidzie's academy work produced: Dariusz Kożodziej, once capped for Poland at the 2002 World Cup, later ran the youth setup after finishing his playing days at the club with the same second-division scoring mark.

The team traces its roots to Bielitzer Fussball Klub, founded in 1907 as the first football side in Bielsko-Biała. It became Bielsko-Bialskie Towarzystwo Sportowe in 1936, merged with Włókniarz in 1968, and only took its current shape on 11 July 1997, when the football section of BBTS Włókniarz combined with DKS Komorowice. The new club changed its name twice more in the following years before settling on TS Podbeskidzie in 2003.

Promotion came in stages: champions of the fourth tier in 1999/2000, then of the third tier two years later, each title carrying the club up a division. The furthest the club has gone nationally is the semi-final of the Polish Cup, reached twice, in 2010/11 and again in 2014/15.

Podbeskidzie play in green and white at the Stadion Miejski w Bielsku-Białej, a ground that holds just over 15,000. Locally the team is known as the Gorals, a nod to the highlanders of the Beskidy hills around the city.

Two other names carry weight in the dressing room's memory rather than the record books: Tomasz Jodłowiec, who played for the club in 2006 having already appeared at that year's World Cup and reached the European Championship two years later, and Grzegorz Pater, who wore the shirt 141 times between 2004 and 2008 while also playing for Poland.
