Founded in 1967, the club has worn yellow and blue throughout, colours that trace straight back to the mining company that gave it life and, indirectly, its nicknames.
Qizilqum have never lifted a major trophy. Their best league finish came in 2002, when they took third place in Uzbekistan's top flight, and they had already banked two bronze finishes in the First League, in 1996 and 1999, before that top-flight breakthrough. The Uzbekistan Cup has been kinder to frustration than to silverware: the quarter-finals have come round again and again — 2001, 2004, 2009, 2013, 2018, 2020, 2021, 2022 — without the club ever reaching a final.
