About

The Uzbekistan Super League serves as the premier division for professional football in the country. Organised by the Uzbekistan Professional Football League, the competition underwent a significant rebranding in 2018, transitioning from its former designation as the Uzbekistan Higher League. Currently operating under the sponsorship of Artel as the Artel Superliga, it represents the highest level of domestic play. The structure comprises 16 clubs, a size increased from the previous 2025 season. Teams engage in a double round-robin format, ensuring every side plays each opponent twice over 30 matchdays. The campaign generally spans from late February through to November.

Decisions regarding promotion and relegation follow a specific protocol. The teams finishing in 15th and 16th place face immediate drop-down to the second-tier Uzbekistan Pro League. Meanwhile, the club in 14th position enters a playoff contest against the third-placed Pro League side. The top two finishers in the lower division secure automatic advancement to the top flight. Within the league itself, the championship title is awarded to the team accumulating the most points, with no additional play-offs utilized. The competition distinguishes itself through a unique foreign player quota, which mandates that at least one of the five permitted foreigners must be from an Asian Football Confederation member nation. Reserve teams are also prohibited from competing in this tier.

Pakhtakor Tashkent holds the record for the most titles, having won the league 16 times since its inception following the dissolution of the Soviet Union. The current standings reflect Neftchi Fergana as the reigning champions from the 2025 campaign. The league’s prestige is evidenced by its continental standing; ranked ninth in Asia, the champion qualifies directly for the AFC Champions League Elite. This pathway differs from the domestic cup competition, where the winner earns entry to the AFC Champions League Two. The league’s official online presence is maintained at pfl.uz.
