When Lokomotiv Tashkent won its first Uzbek league title in 2016, the crest still felt new by the standards of a competition where most rivals trace their names back to the Soviet era. The club carries the badge of the state railway company, O'zbekiston Temir Yo'llari, which explains both the name and the nickname the fans use, Railroaders, and the badge only started appearing in Uzbek football on 18 February 2002.

The title in 2016 came two years after the club's first piece of silverware, the 2014 Uzbek Cup, and both wins mattered for the same reason: Lokomotiv had spent much of its existence establishing itself rather than winning. The championship was retained in 2017 and again in 2018, three straight years at the top of a league previously dominated by older names, and the cup followed twice more, in 2016 and 2017, giving the club a double in that span. A Super Cup came in 2015 and again in 2019.

Between those peaks, the club has twice needed to climb back to reach them. Lokomotiv won promotion out of the First League in 2011, then again in 2023 and in 2025, a pattern that says as much about the club's history as the trophies do.

Matches at home are played at the Lokomotiv Stadium in Tashkent, in red and white, in front of a ground that holds 8,000.
