Penalties settled it in June 2026: Rakvere FC Freedom went 2–2 with Kena FC through ninety minutes and extra time in the Estonian Cup, then held their nerve to win 5–4 from the spot.
That history is still being written. Freedom emerged out of the wreckage of Rakvere JK Tarvas, and its first competitive matches were played only in the 2025/2026 season. Players such as Sergei Akimov, a long-serving striker under the Tarvas name, and Robin Mölder, who came through that club's youth and reserve ranks, made the switch across.
Freedom start life in the III liiga Põhi-Ida piirkond, Estonia's fifth tier, and the 2026 campaign has been a lesson in it: eighth place after fifteen rounds, four wins and nine defeats, fourteen points to show for it. No silverware yet, in the league or beyond.
Home games are played at the Rakvere Linnastaadion, an artificial-turf ground known locally as Rakvere kunstmurustaadion, holding 1,831 spectators. The nickname Freedom, Vabadus in Estonian, is the clearest thing the club has settled on so far; colours and crest are still less fixed than the name.
