Såby

For Såby Fodbold's hundredth birthday in 2022, it was a Denmark oldboys line-up assembled for the occasion, and it included Michael Laudrup, Peter Schmeichel, Thomas Helveg and Nicklas Bendtner — none of whom had ever played a match for the club whose anniversary they were there to mark.

The club was founded in 1922 on Zealand, and for most of its existence has stayed in the regional tiers below Denmark's national league structure. The closest thing to a breakthrough came in the centenary year itself: promotion to Sjællandsserien, the sixth tier of Danish football and the top level open to clubs on Zealand's own regional ladder. No cup or championship precedes it.

On 11 August 2026, Såby beat Værløse BK 2-0 in the Danish Cup. Værløse plays out of Furesø, a separate municipality from Såby's home in Lejre, and the fixture has no settled derby name attached to it — a cup pairing rather than a rivalry with any history behind it, the nearest thing the club currently has to an opponent worth naming.
