Schalke Women

The one fixture Schalke's women now circle on the calendar is against Borussia Dortmund. The first Revierderby between the clubs' women's sides kicked off on 27 October 2024 and finished goalless; the return leg in April 2025 went to Dortmund, 2-1, with Edina Habibovic scoring the first goal either side has managed in the fixture's short history. It is a rivalry the current squad inherited rather than built — the badge and the colours, Königsblau and white, go back to a department that once existed, folded, and had to be started over from nothing.

That first version ran from 1975, when Schalke took on the women's team of DJK Eintracht Erle and turned it into its own section. It won the Westphalian championship five times through the late 1970s and 1980s and took the Westphalia Cup on three occasions, and twice reached the DFB-Pokal. None of that saved it: in 1987, financial trouble on the men's side pulled the funding, and the players moved on to SSV Buer 07/28.

The department did not return until the 2020/21 season, and it came back from the bottom of the pyramid, in the Kreisliga B. Stefan Colmsee has coached the side since that restart, taking it up through the leagues to a first-place finish in the Westfalenliga in 2025/26 and promotion to the Regionalliga West for 2026/27. Along the way the club found itself a modern trophy to go with the old ones: in 2026 the team beat Arminia Bielefeld 3-0 in the Westphalia Cup final, a result that also opened the door to the DFB-Pokal.

Home games are usually played at the Glückauf-Kampfbahn, though the derby against Dortmund has been moved to the redeveloped Parkstadion, which holds around 3,000. The current squad includes Mandy Islacker, Laura Radke and captain Shari Noffke. The Revierderby has been played twice.
