SeaHorses Mikawa go into the season in the Western Conference of the B.PREMIER, Japan's top professional tier, still leaning on Kosuke Kanamaru. Ryan Richman took over as head coach for this campaign, with Ryuzo Anzai already lined up to succeed him for 2026–27.

The team grew out of the works basketball department at Aisin Seiki in Kariya, and carried the company's name through several changes — Aisin Seiki SeaHorses, then Aisin SeaHorses, then Aisin SeaHorses Mikawa — before dropping the corporate tag altogether and becoming simply SeaHorses Mikawa in 2016. Founded in 1947, the club is one of the older basketball outfits in the country.

Blue and black make up the kit, taken from Aomi and Hagi, the ancient names for the Mikawa region, and meant to evoke the armour worn by Mikawa's samurai. The nearest derby comes against San-en NeoPhoenix, a fixture supporters call the Mikawa Battle. A dedicated new arena is being built in neighbouring Anjo City and is due to open in March 2028.

Under the old company name, the club won the Japan Basketball League's Super League five times between 2003 and 2013 and took the short-lived National Basketball League title as well.
