Seychelles U23

Madagascar U23 is the only name that appears in the Seychelles U23 record book, and not kindly: in the first round of qualifying for the 2023 Africa U23 Cup of Nations, the tie that doubled as a path to the Paris 2024 Olympics, the Seychellois lost 1-12 on aggregate.

That irregularity is the point. There is no U23 side in the way there is a senior Seychelles team; the Seychelles Football Federation puts a squad together when TotalEnergies U-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying comes round, since that competition doubles as Olympic qualification, and stands it down once the ties are done. The federation itself dates to 1941, restyled from an association to a federation in 1980, and joined FIFA and the Confederation of African Football in 1986 — but none of that fixes a founding date for the U23 team, because it was never founded as such.

Home matches, when there are any, go to Stade Linité at the Roche Caiman Sport Complex in Victoria, a ground built in 1992 and opened the following year, renovated in 2007, with artificial turf and room for 10,000. It is the same stadium the senior side uses, and the U23s wear the same red, blue and white associated with the seniors' nickname, the Pirates, though nothing ties that name specifically to the age-group side.

What the team has, in place of a history, is a single scoreline against Madagascar that it has had no chance yet to answer.
