Tabor Sežana sit in the Second League after last season's relegation from the top flight, having begun with promotion under Andrej Razdrh. That top-flight spell peaked with sixth place in 2020/21 and ended with a bottom finish in 2022/23. New owners, the FMCF Investments group, took charge of the club in 2024, and the task now is finding a way back up.

The club traces back to Mladinsko društvo Tabor-Sežana, a youth society run by the publicist Ivan Regent, and was reconstituted in 1945 once the war had ended. It spent the 1950s playing as Železničar, and under the sponsored name Tabor Jadran it won the Slovenian Zonal League West in 1981/82 to reach the republican league. Bankruptcy in 2003/04 forced expulsion from the Second League, and the club started over in the lower tiers as Mladinsko nogometno društvo Tabor, winning the 3. SNL twice, in 1997/98 and 2016/17.

Mauro Camoranesi, the 2006 World Cup winner and former Juventus midfielder, took over as head coach in January 2020.

Home games are played at the Rajko Štolfa Stadium in Sežana.
