The team took shape in 1945 as SK Teplice-Šanov, then spent the following decades being renamed on a schedule set by whoever was running the country — Sokol, then a string of works-team titles tied to local industry, Slovan, Sklounion, before Fotbalový klub Teplice settled into place in 1994.

Two Czech Cups, in 2002/03 and 2008/09, are the honours that count at home. The stranger one sits further back. In 1975, Teplice won a tournament in Iran called the Persian Cup, and the trophy was cast in gold.
