Teruel

Long before Luis Milla wore the shirts of Real Madrid and Barcelona, and played for Spain, he was working through the youth ranks of Club Deportivo Teruel, in the early 1980s. Two decades later the traffic ran the other way: Raúl Fabiani, a forward, spent the 2007–08 season scoring for Teruel in the Tercera División — 19 goals — before going on to play at the Africa Cup of Nations, in 2012 and 2015.

The club itself was formed on 14 July 1954, in the Aragonese city of Teruel. Its nickname, El Torico — Little Bull — is borrowed from a local symbol, an unofficial emblem of the province long before the football club took the name.

Tercera División title-winning seasons have come three times — 2000–01, 2009–10 and 2017–18 — the last of them alongside a cooperation agreement signed with SD Huesca. Promotion to the level above, Segunda División B, first arrived in 1987.

The most recent rise came in 2022–23, when Teruel finished top of Segunda Federación and went up into Primera Federación, the second tier of Spanish football. Their ground, Estadio Pinilla, holds 4,500.
