Thirty-nine years passed between Tindastóll's first Úrvalsdeild karla title and its second. The wait ended in the 2022–23 season, when the club from Sauðárkrókur beat Valur 3–2 in the finals to win the men's championship for the first time since the early 1980s.

The team's supporters call it "Stólarnir" — the Chairs, a play on the club's name — and that divide runs through the club's biggest rivalry, against Haukar of Hafnarfjörður, framed locally as north against south.

Before the league title came a cup. In 2018 Tindastóll beat KR in the final of the Icelandic Basketball Cup, then followed it by hammering the same opponent 103–72 in the Super Cup. Pétur Rúnar Birgisson , who came through the club's own academy, was named the cup final's MVP that year and was still on the roster five years later for the 2023 championship — a rare case of a player spanning both of the club's defining wins. Valur Ingimundarson belongs to an earlier era: he played for and later coached Tindastóll across three separate spells between 1988 and 2002, and remains the Úrvalsdeild's all-time leading scorer.
