Uddevalla Women

Uddevalla is not a one-club city in women's football. IK Rössö have long shared the town with a newer side, Uddevalla W, and Rössö themselves have never been part of IFK Uddevalla, the city's better-known men's institution — a separation the club has kept since long before it fielded a senior team.

That senior side only appeared in 1973, three years after the club was founded in November 1970 as the first outfit in the Bohuslän region built specifically for women and girls. The commitment hardened in 1990, when Rössö dropped men's football altogether and narrowed everything to women's and youth teams.

Home matches are played at Rimnersvallen, with room for 10,605, a ground the club moved into in 2014 after years at Ängevi. Red, black and white are the colours worn there.

Rössö have never reached Damallsvenskan, Sweden's top flight. The closest they came was winning Division 1 in 2022 and going up to Elitettan, the second tier. It did not hold: the 2023 season ended with the club bottom of a 14-team table and relegated straight back down. A second promotion returned them to Elitettan in 2024, and the season followed the same pattern — bottom of the table, and down again.

No national trophy sits in the club's history. What does is the reason it was set up in the first place: a football club for the women and girls of Uddevalla, at a time when the region had none.
