«The Kobs»
When Uganda withdrew from qualifying for the 2023 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations, the Kobs still had a regional pedigree to fall back on: the CECAFA U-23 Challenge Cup, won in 2019 and followed two years later by a fifth-place finish at the same tournament.
They train and play out of the Mandela National Stadium in Bweyogerere, a ground that carries 45,000 after renovation work completed in 2024 and that the senior team also calls home. Red is the first colour, with white and yellow kept for away trips.
Regional tournaments have shaped who Uganda U23 measures itself against more than continental ones have: Congo DR, Guinea and Tanzania turn up as the sides they meet most often at CECAFA level.
