Urgupspor

The pitch at Ürgüp Çim Saha is artificial turf, not grass, and the club takes to it because the ground doubles as the district's number three municipal field.

Founded in 1948, Ürgüpspor has spent most of its existence exactly where a club from a Nevşehir Province district tends to sit: in the amateur pyramid, playing Kapadokya Avanosspor and Nevşehir Belediyespor rather than names anyone outside the province would recognise. What changed was back-to-back titles in the Nevşehir 1. Amatör Lig, in 2022–23 and again in 2023–24, the second sealed with a 2–1 win over Kaymaklı Belediyespor in the final. That double promoted the Yellow-Blacks into the Bölgesel Amatör Lig, the fifth tier of Turkish football — a step up the club had not managed in previous seasons.

Football carries the club's colours, but it is not where Ürgüpspor has made its clearest mark: the volleyball section has climbed further, winning the Turkish Volleyball Federation's Men's 2. League and earning its own promotion to the Men's 1. League.

The name attached most often to the recent run is Mahmut Sami Akyüz, the head coach whose work with the youth academy has sent players through to national-team trials — the kind of pipeline a district club builds quietly, one age group at a time.
