Velká Bíteš

Velká Bíteš sits in the Vysočina region. Spartak — the name the club still carries from its Czechoslovak days, though it was founded in 1932 as SK Velká Bíteš — has spent most of that history not chasing trophies but simply staying on the map.

For decades that meant silverware nobody outside the okres would recognise: a district title in 1976, another regional group win in 1994, then 2005. The real turn came in 2015/16, when the club won the Vysočina regional championship and reached Divize D, the fourth tier, for the first time in its history. Covid cut the following seasons short across Czech football, and when the 2020/21 Divize D campaign was curtailed, Velká Bíteš were sitting top of the table — the result stood, and the club has stayed at that level since.

There is no national cup run to point to, no top-flight chapter. What there is instead is the derby with FC Žďas Žďár nad Sázavou, a fixture that draws a different kind of attention because both towns share the same district, and regular league meetings with FC Velké Meziříčí that matter more locally than their table position would suggest. The club fields a reserve side, Benfika, in the lower leagues beneath it — a second team doing the same slow work the first team did for seventy years.

Home games are played at Stadion Velká Bíteš, a ground built for a town this size rather than for ambition beyond it: capacity 1,500.
