Welco X

Welco X won the III liiga South/East division in 2025, finishing top with 33 points after the title race was settled when rivals Team Helm forfeited a match against them. The title belongs to a side that exists purely to feed the club above it: Welco X is the third team of Tartu JK Welco, put together in 2018 as a marker of the parent club's tenth anniversary rather than as a competitive project in its own right.

Rauno Puusepp coaches the group, working in the shadow of a first team that plays two divisions higher, in the Esiliiga, and finished third there in 2025. That gap between the two Welco sides is the point of Welco X: a place where the club develops players before they are ready for the step up, in a system built around students from Tartu's university and its schools rather than around a single benefactor.

The name itself is borrowed rather than chosen — it comes from OÜ Welco Elekter, the sponsor behind the club when it registered under that banner in 2008, a year after starting out as JK Masuudinaine. That commercial link stuck hard enough that supporters still call the players "Elektrikud", the Electricians, and gather as the Electric Legion behind a first team wearing black and white.

Welco X plays its football far from any spotlight, at Holm Jalgpallipark, a ground holding 580 people. It is a modest stage for a reserve side, but reserve sides are not built for crowds — they are built to keep producing players for the day, back in 2007, when a group of students in Tartu decided the city needed a club of its own.
