Zamora

Handball returned to Zamora in 2001, when the club was set up to pick up where the previous entity had left off after folding in 1991. It took the name Club Balonmano Zamora, adopted pistachio green and red as its colours — a nod to the Seña Bermeja, the provincial flag.

The climb through the divisions took over a decade. Zamora won the Segunda División Estatal in 2007–08 without going up, then secured promotion by finishing runner-up. The title of Primera División Estatal in 2012–13 pushed the club into División de Honor Plata, and a second-place finish there took it into Liga ASOBAL, the Spanish top flight. It did not stay: relegation followed in 2015. A promotion playoff win over Palma del Río sent the club back up in 2016–17, and a second relegation from ASOBAL came in 2018 — the same year the Spanish Handball Federation awarded it the Placa al Mérito Deportivo. A further drop, from División de Honor Plata to Primera Nacional, followed in 2023–24.

The academy has kept producing players for Spanish youth squads, and in 2026 the youth team reached the Campeonato de España Juvenil for the first time.

Matches against Balonmano Ciudad de Salamanca carry the weight of a regional derby. Zamora plays in front of 2,200 at the Pabellón Ángel Nieto, in a city where the team now runs largely on social media and local press rather than an official website of its own.
