City Ground

Nottingham Forest have played on this ground since 1898. No renaming, no sponsor prefix — it has stayed City Ground throughout.

The Bridgford and Trent End stands were rebuilt in the 1990s ahead of Euro 96, when the ground hosted three group matches. A fire had already gutted the Peter Taylor Stand once, in 1968, and that stand is now due to come down again — a four-tier replacement planned to take the ground toward 35,000–40,000 seats, at a cost put above £94 million.

The pitch itself was reinforced in October 2025 with a hybrid surface, natural grass at roughly 95–97 per cent, stitched through with synthetic fibre for durability, sitting over the ground's existing undersoil heating.

The record crowd goes back to 28 October 1967, 49,946 for a First Division match against Manchester United that Forest won 3–1. In 2007 the ground staged the FA Women's Cup final, Arsenal beating Charlton Athletic 4–1. England returned in June 2025 for a friendly against Senegal, lost 1–3 — the national side's first match at the City Ground in 116 years. The ground has also hosted concerts, R.E.M. in 2005 and Take That across 2024 and 2025, and its history carries two odder entries: a 1947 flood that put the pitch under water and damaged the club's records, and a pitch invasion during a 1996 Champions League tie against Bayern.
