The arena was constructed quickly by an Austrian firm, completing its structure in two years for the Boris Yeltsin Cup tournament. It has not changed its name for sponsors, keeping the 'Uralochka' tag that links it to the local volleyball tradition.

It is a multi-purpose house, hosting basketball, volleyball, and futsal. The teams that play here—Lokomotiv-Imurud, Uralochka-NTMK, Ural, UGMK, Sinara, and Uralmash—share the same floor.

The renovation was intended to prepare the venue for the Universiade, but the international schedule shifted, and the works finished in 2024 regardless.
