The pitch sits in a caserío — a hamlet, not a town — in the district of Lepanto within the canton of Puntarenas. This one answers to a civic association, and carries its name: Asociación Cívica Jicaraleña . Locally it is just the Estadio de Jicaral.

Fifteen hundred people fit in. That figure explains more about the place than the size of the stand does.

The ground opened in 1981 and kept the same name through everything that followed.

The main field is natural grass, and it has stayed that way even though ADR Jicaral , the club that plays here, has an artificial surface available at its high-performance centre, the CIAR. The synthetic pitch takes the training load. Matches go on the grass.
