Estadio Jalisco
Estadio Jalisco has never worn a sponsor's name. This one stayed Estadio Jalisco from the day it opened, 31 January 1960, with a friendly between Atlas and Argentina's San Lorenzo.
What sets it apart in Guadalajara is how much World Cup football has passed through it. It hosted matches at the 1970 tournament, including the semi-final in which Brazil beat Uruguay 3-1, and returned for six more games in 1986, among them the quarter-final between Brazil and France. For the 2026 World Cup, the stadium keeps a supporting role, serving as a training base rather than a match venue.
The building itself has been reshaped more than once. Engineers Javier Vallejo and Jaime Obeso designed the original structure, built from 1956 by Constructora Jalisco.
The stands have not always stayed calm.
