Jāņa Skredeļa stadions
Riga, Latvia
Formerly: Sporta komplekss 'Arkādija', NSB 'Arkādija'
The name on the gate is younger than almost everything behind it. Until 2021 this was the Arkādija sports complex, and before that plain NSB "Arkādija".
It is a working pitch with a stand attached, not a stadium built for a crowd.
The 1969 build sat for four decades before the complex was reconstructed in 2009, and that gap is the shape of the place: Soviet-era bones, a late-2000s refit, then a renaming twelve years after that. Each change came from a different era of Latvian sport, and none of them replaced what came before.
What there is to find runs through Rīgas Futbola skola — the football school that fields its teams here. That tells you the ground's function directly: it belongs to the training and youth end of Riga football, where the calendar is dense and the attendance figures are beside the point.
Between the 1969 opening and the 2021 renaming, the constant has been the grass and the address. Everything else about the ground has been rebuilt or renamed at least once.
