Kórinn

Kórinn shares its city with a much older stadium, Kópavogsvöllur: one is the open-air ground rebuilt for a UEFA women's under-19 tournament, the other is the indoor hall on Kóravegur that opened in 2007 under the architectural firm VA arkitektar, built by the contractor Ístak. What Kórinn adds to Kópavogur is roofed capacity — a hall built to FIFA standard rather than an outdoor pitch.

The name means "The Choir," and it has stuck without a sponsor's rebrand attached. HK, the Kópavogur handball club, plays here alongside the football sides Augnablik Kópavogur and KM Reykjavík. Next to the hall sits a separate artificial-turf pitch, Kórinn Gervigras, holding a further thousand spectators — often mentioned in the same breath as the arena but administratively and physically its own facility.

No major renovation has followed the 2007 opening, and the building has kept its original form since. Kópavogur itself sits inside the Reykjavík capital area but runs as its own municipality, Iceland's second-largest by population.
