HK Kopavogur Women

Kórinn sits in Kópavogur, a hall that opened in 2007.

The volleyball department, Blakdeild, did not arrive with the parent club. Handknattleiksfélag Kópavogs was founded in January 1970 as a handball outfit, and it took until 1974, with Júlíus Arnarsson and Albert N. Valdemarsson pushing it into being, for women's volleyball to become part of what HK does.

Five league titles, taken in 1995, 2009, 2010, 2015 and 2017, sit alongside six cup wins, the most recent in 2021.

Bryan Silva took charge as head coach. Supporters go by HK-ingar, and the club leans on red, white and blue as its colours, sold under the line "lið fólksins" — the team of the people.

Afturelding, from neighbouring Mosfellsbær, provide the closest thing HK has to a rival, the two sides having met repeatedly at the top of the table and in finals without the fixture ever picking up a name of its own.
