Ymir Women

Ymir Women go into the current campaign sitting second in the 1. deild kvenna after the 2025/2026 regular season, one tier below Iceland's top flight, the Mizunodeild. No title from the top division sits in the club's history, and the second-tier table is where the team's ambitions are measured for now.

The volleyball section belongs to Íþróttafélagið Ymir, a multi-sport club out of Kópavogur. Those colours are red and white, worn by a club that has stayed on the amateur and semi-professional side of the Icelandic game rather than chasing a professional structure.

Kópavogur has more than one hall that could host a volleyball side — Hraunhöll and Kópavogshöll both sit in the town — though which one Ymir calls home on league nights is not settled in what the club puts out publicly. When the 1. deild reaches its finals, the venue stops being a local question anyway: those matches move to Laugardalshöll in Reykjavík.

What the team lacks in silverware it has not lacked in staying power within its division. No player from the current squad has broken into the wider public record of the Icelandic national team, and the club has kept that side of things quiet.
