MHP Arena
Mercedesstraße, Bad Cannstatt, and the ground itself has carried three names for the same corner of turf before MHP put theirs on the door in July 2023. The building runs back to 1933, but it wore Adolf-Hitler-Kampfbahn until 1945 and Century Stadium for the four years after.
The rebuild for Euro 2024 touched only the main stand, and it came in at €139.5 million. That work sits on top of an already-reconstructed bowl from 2009–2011, when the running track came out and the venue turned into a football-only ground. The 2025 pitch swap to a hybrid surface, 96 per cent grass woven through with synthetic fibre, is the newest layer on a stadium that keeps getting rebuilt rather than replaced.
Two European Cup finals were played here — Real Madrid against Stade de Reims in 1959, and PSV against Benfica in 1988 — plus the Cup Winners' Cup replay of 1962. None of that attendance compares to 22 November 1950, though: 97,553 came through the gates for West Germany against Switzerland.
VfB Stuttgart have called it home since the opening year in 1933, unbroken through every renaming along the way. Athletics left its own mark too — Yuriy Sedykh's hammer-throw world record came down in the 1986 European Championships, back when a track still ringed the pitch.
