Nantporth

The Bangor arena on Holyhead Road went up as the Normal Site Playing Fields before running through a string of sponsors' titles — the Book People Stadium, Bangor University Stadium, the VSM Stadium, the EUROGOLD Stadium — while locals kept calling it Nantporth.

It was never a club's own build. Bangor City Council owns the site and commissioned the work; Watkin Jones and Morbaine Ltd set up a company, Deiniol Developments, purely to put the stadium up. Ground was broken in August 2011 and the job was finished by January 2012 — five months, start to finish.

The opening, on 24 January 2012, came with a match rather than a ceremony alone: Caernarfon Wanderers were the visitors, in the North Wales Coast FA Challenge Cup. That set the tone for a venue that has spent its short life passing between tenants. Bangor City FC held it for a decade from the opening. In 2022 Llandudno FC moved in for a single season. Since 2023 it has been home to Bangor 1876 FC.

Of the 3,000 the ground holds, 1,158 are seats — a figure unchanged since the doors first opened. The rest stand. The surface is artificial, third generation, which is what keeps the pitch usable through a Gwynedd winter and lets the game flow when a grass field would have cut up. A move to a fourth-generation surface is planned for 2025.
