Raatin stadion

The pitch at Раатин Стадион is heated, and laid with turf-transfer technology. In Оулу that is not a luxury item.

The stadium stands inside a district that Алвар Аалто planned — the general layout for Коскикескус came from him, and the ground was built into it between 1950 and 1953 at the expense of the city. Оулу got the pitch before it got anywhere for players to change: the opening waited on the stands and dressing rooms, and until those were finished the site stayed shut.

It reopened in a different form after the rebuild of 2009–2011, commissioned by the municipal body Оулун Тилакескус, with Оулун ОКТ as main contractor and Юкка Сирен of Сирен Аркитехдит as lead architect. That work is what brought АК Оулу across from Кастрен, and the club has played here since.

The name has never been sold. Раатин Стадион has been Раатин Стадион since 1953, with no sponsor's title in between, and it means the address on Раатинтие reads the same in a 1953 fixture list as it does now. The stadium keeps no site of its own; everything about it is published through АК Оулу.
