Stade Silvio Cator

Silvio Cator sits in Turgeau, wedged into a residential slope above Rue Oswald Durand, and it has been Haiti's default national ground since 1953. The name honours the athlete who died the year the stadium went up, a triple and long jumper who had taken Olympic silver in Amsterdam a quarter-century earlier.

The pitch itself tells its own story: the original grass gave way to an artificial surface, now laid as Edel Grass. Capacity sits at 10,500, modest by regional standards, which suits a stadium that has always been about hosting the national team and domestic finals rather than drawing continental crowds.

What Silvio Cator has instead is continuity: seven decades as the country's central footballing address, unmoved by the redevelopment waves that reshaped so many of its Caribbean and Central American contemporaries.
