Toše Proeski Arena

The arena sits inside Градски парк, and it has carried three names in a decade. It opened as the Городской стадион, became the Национальная арена «Филип Втори» in 2009, and on 9 April 2019 the government of North Macedonia renamed it after the pop singer Тодор «Тоше» Проески, one of the commitments made under the Преспанское соглашение on de-antiquisation.

What stands there now is not the 1947 ground. The reconstruction that shaped it began in 1978 with the south stand, to a 1975 design by Драган Крстев and Тодорка Мавкова of Beton Construction Company. Between 2008 and 2013 the whole thing was rebuilt and enlarged at a cost of more than 60 million euros — roughly 2 billion Macedonian denars.

The record football attendance is 32 120, against a listed capacity of 33 011. The larger figure in its history is not a match at all: nearly 50 000 people, in the seats and on the pitch, for the independence day event in 2012.

Since 2019 the surface has been GrassMaster hybrid turf, natural grass stitched through with synthetic fibre. North Macedonia played Kosovo here on 8 October 2020.
