Eibar Women saw off Athletic Club 1-0 at home in the fourth round of the Primera División Femenina on Sunday. The result leaves both sides on seven points after four games, though Eibar sit sixth while Athletic remain fourth. The statistics tell one story, the result another. Athletic had 63 per cent possession and 470 passes compared to Eibar's 279. They registered six shots on target and seven off target, yet produced zero big chances. Eibar managed two shots on target and six off — and scored from one.
For Eibar, this is a point that matters. They have now taken a point from Athletic away from home, and the gap between them narrows. Athletic will look at those numbers and wonder where the chances went. Eibar simply didn't need them.
