Sturm Graz moved a step further towards an unbeaten start to the Women's Bundesliga season when they beat Kleinmünchen / BV Linz 4-0 at home on Saturday. The result leaves the visitors in first place with 16 points from six matches, while the hosts drop further down to ninth with just four.
Jacqueline Keutz opened the scoring in the ninth minute, a calm finish that set the tone for what followed. Sturm did not rush into anything, but they took their chance when S. Maierhofer doubled the lead in the seventeenth, and here's the thing — the game had barely begun and the visitors were already comfortable.
The second half brought no reprieve for the home side. Keutz added her second in the fortieth and her third in the fifty-first, carving out space that Linz could not close. By then the match had been decided, and the rest was simply management of the lead.
Sturm brought on nine changes across the final quarter, moving players around without changing the outcome. Keutz herself came off in the seventy-sixth, having already marked the difference, while Linz introduced Wattilete, Bormans, Schubert, Hofschweiger, Rauch, Breznik, Spiess and Schimm in a series of adjustments that could not shift the scoreboard.
The gap between the teams on the table tells the story without needing embellishment. Sturm have won five and drawn one without a defeat; Linz have managed just one victory from six games. What matters now is how the visitors handle the expectation that comes with sitting clear at the top.
